No Birds, No Problem

Blaine and I fished Upper Galveston and Trinity this morning in search of some bird action and they were nowhere to be found. We covered a bunch of water and didn’t see a single bird working bait. Instead we keyed in on reefs and drifted areas where we saw bait activity near the surface. Bite was never hot and heavy but we picked up fish on nearly every drift.

We ended the day boxing 12 trout to 4lbs and a few reds to 8lbs. We also landed numerous undersized speckled trout as well as some big gafftops and sand trout. We caught all of our fish in 6′ – 8′ of water on an outgoing tide throwing soft plastic paddle tails (TTF Hackberry Hustler in morning glory, TTF Flats Minnow in mumpy glo, and a Bass Assassin sea shad in Salt & Pepper). Water was in great shape and the the bay look like a lake after the wind died around mid morning.

Blaine’s 26.5″ 8lb Redfish

20″ 3.75lb Trout
